TALENT IDs (TRYOUTS)

To identify talented players who embody the spirit of CT United FC, a series of tryouts, also known as Talent IDs, will be conducted in Connecticut this spring. Each series will span two days and participants must attend both days to be considered. Interested and eligible players are required to register online to secure their spot in ONE tryout series.

For the 2024 – 25 season, CT United Academy will host two boys' teams:

U14 (under 14) for those born in the years 2011 and 2012

U16 (under 16) for those born in the years 2009 and 2010

‍Our youth academy is proud to be fully funded, and enrollment will be based on merit alone, making us the sole elite youth program in the state where entry is FREE.

Faq

What does the Talent ID entail? What do I need to bring?

Each Talent ID is a two-day long series, spanning two hours each day, and participants are required to be in attendance for both days.

Participants should plan to bring:

Athletic apparel appropriate for the weather conditions
Cleat (no metal studs allowed)
Shin guards
Soccer socks that cover shin guards
Towel
Water bottle(s)

Is there a cost for tryouts? Or the team?

There is no cost to participate in a Talent ID series. If selected, CT United Academy will cover all costs and expenses associated with participation in the Academy program.

Can I attend multiple tryout series?

Players can only participate in ONE Talent ID series.

I registered to tryout. Why haven’t I heard back?

Thank you for your interest in joining CT United Academy! Everyone who has registered should have received a confirmation email for their submission. If you did not receive a confirmation, your submission may not have been processed, please try registering again.

I registered to tryout. When will the details be provided?

The exact information regarding your Talent ID series will be confirmed by email ONE WEEK before the series begins.

When does the season start/end?

Our regular season will begin fall 2024 and end spring 2025.

Where and how often will the team train?

In 2024-25, the CT United Academy will typically train a minimum of four (4) days a week in the evenings. In the coming weeks, we will confirm our training location which will likely be in Fairfield county.

Can players participate on another team?

Given our rigorous training and game schedule, League rules prohibit players from participating in other soccer teams during the MLS NEXT pre-season, the regular season, or post-season. MLS will make rare exceptions to this rule and will require a completed waiver form for consideration.

Will there be opportunities for boys of other ages?

Yes! We plan to expand our Academy for the 2025 – 26 season to include additional teams for other ages. Stay tuned for more information.

Will there be opportunities for girls?

We are eager to empower girls to pursue their passion for soccer and hone their skills. Stay tuned for updates on our academy for girls.
